Chistmas is near!

Hello travellers,

we are finally in December and this means...Christmas!
In piazza venezia has arrived Speraggio, the brother of Spelacchio the tree.

Will it be famous like its predecessor? We will see!
Everywhere in Rome the Christmas lights are shining in the night. The feel is getting right for the holidays!
And this year the new is via dei Condotti. You probably know one of the most famous shopping street of the center, the place where Bulgari stands near Burberry, Michael Kors etc etc.
The Christmas lights here are inspired from cartoons. You can find the Gumball ones, the Scoobydoo ones and many more.

If you are coming to Rome do not miss the chance to see this unusual yet lovely christmas lights!

See you in Rome!

Our story part. 2

Hello travellers,

let's go back in time! Let's talk a little bit more about our story so far. It is kind of amusing to see all the changes the apartment went through; also looking back I get ideas from the future, but that's another story I guess.

The first entry about all the changes were the doors. Of course the windows went through the same care and renovation. I chose a plain white for them in order to keep the natural light at its best in each room.

This was the state of all the windows. After a good amount of sanding and a few coats of varnish they became lovely!

Actually, there was a minor accident, a broken glass because of my clumsiness: while sanding I somehow put a foot on the glass. I had to call great glaziers that replaced the broken glass very fast end efficiently.

Then it was time for the kitchen!
It was more difficult, planning all the forniture to have more space to walk around.

It is a tiny room compared to most of the present style kitchens. I can only imagine what out american friends think about them! They have huge and amazing spaces to cook, but in Rome, especially in old buildings, the kitchen inside all the the apartments were really small.

Originally everything was messy and there was a table that was really too big for the room.

So, the table had to go away. But we needed a place where our guest could sit down and enjoy breakfast or any meal...so I thought, why not have a barlike counter, with matching barstools.

So here you can see how in the end I managed to restyle the kitchen.

What do you think of this new part?

Leave a comment, and if you have any suggestion for a future restyling let me know!

See you in Rome!

End of summer and DIY

Hello travellers,

this summer was kind of rainy and it's slowly fading into autumn. Luckily we have our so called "ottobrate romane", which means weather in October will probably be amazing here in Rome. A perfect time to visit without getting too cold or too hot!

I had a week off from work and, beside relaxing, I painted fresh coats of varnish onto the doors. Manteinance is a must to ensure my guests find the perfect environment.

Also, stay tuned for a great innovation we are making in the near future!

While I was working on the red living room I thought to do a usefull new DIY for my guests. a Supermario Bros related one.

Why, you could ask. Well, with all these raiy days we had I thought board games were not enough as entertainment, I needed something more quick and, of course, in geek style!

Here I present you...a playable pillow for our red living room!

For now there is just team Mario and team Peach. I'll probably make a team Luigi (because let's face it, Luigi is awesome) and team Toad.

The "chips" are magnetic so you can play even against gravity.

Keep your scores and share them with any of AlePh casa vacanze's social network, we want to know who's winning! Tag wherever you want, I'll cheer for you 🙋

Pentecost

Hello travellers,

See you in Rome!

Our story part.1

Hello travellers,

Recently I found some pictures of our apartment before the renovation...it has been a lot since then!
It was a long yet satisfying process.
Specialists were called to do most of the work, but of course, being me, I wanted to do something myself.
Like the doors, for instance.

They were yellowish from old age, like this

As you can see in this picture I varnished the doorframe with satin white, so the contrast with the color of the old door is incredible. This is the door that is usually open, in the hallway.

I removed every handle and knew that sanding was necessary (lots of dust was involved in the making). A few white and blue varnish tins later, these were the first results.

The red door was a lot more problematic, many many layers of varnish!

(Note, that's NOT blood 😂)

Are you curious for the final results?

See you in Rome!

Snow

Hello travellers,

Have you seen the snow in Rome?
For the lucky ones to be already in Rome it was an amazing day.

I wanted to repost some of the lovely photos that were taken on the 26th of February, mainly for keepsake.

(These are not my photo, I have taken them on the web. If you are the photographer, or do you know them, please leave a comment mentioning them!)

Incredible, right? To see historic buildings under a thin coat of white snow it's something magical.

Next time,we will probably see the magic of spring!

Updates

Hello travellers,

did you have a nice Valentine's day? If you did not, don't worry; it's always time to show and receive love.

In the apartment I am, yet again, renovating. Not big changes but a few project I had to drop due to cold weather. Like the wardrobe project of a few posts back...The yellow panels are going down finally!
I think the red living room will benefit a lot from this changes.

This means a little more work for me to ensure my guests won't have problem with their bookings.

Also I am working on a new logo for the house holiday. For now you probably realized I like to do these creative works on my own, because I really love it. Most of the times it comes out ok, some other times...let's say I need a little more effort 😅

Valentine's day

 Hello travellers,

I write you this post before celebrating the "fat Thursday" of Carnevale.
Unfortunately next tuesday will be the last day of this holiday. We will have reason not to be too sad, because there will be coming another sweet sweet day.

💗Valentine's day!💗

I'm preparing the apartment for the occasion in order for our guests to have a love nest to return to after visiting Rome. Or just have a few days in a romantic environment.

Since I won't be in the apartment during the morning, I will leave most of things prepared for the breakfast. In bed, of course!

This year the theme will be Disney's Beauty and the Beast. It's such a lovely story, it was really easy the choice.
For the occasion, the enchanted rose I made for the living room will stay in the bedroom, along with small but peculiar decorations.

(For any of you following our instagram page you will recognize this Enchanted rose lamp)

Rose petals, candles, and table decorations.

Think of something like this:

In addition there will be sweet treats and a few more surprises. Can't spoil too much now, can I? 💓

Book now before it's too late!

Next time's theme? We will see, do make suggestion!

See you in Rome!

Le "chiacchiere"

Buongiorno viaggiatori!

Carnevale

Hello travellers!

We are coming close to the end of January...time really flies, doesn't it?

In a few days here in Italy there will be the Carnevale, the festivity before Easter (and san Valentine, let's not forget about that!) .

As you may already know the Venice's carnival, in all Italy everyone gets dressed as something. Think of something like Halloween, but during daylight. Everyone, from the children to adults take part of the celebrations and go partying in the streets with everybody else.

There are many regional masks of old italian commedies; in Rome we have the most famous one called Rugantino.

Have you ever seen someone dressed up as him?

In our apartment we are, of course ready to welcome you. Even thought, being the nerd as I am, I have prepared for you another mask...

I find Majora's mask creepy...but somehow fascinating.

I'd like to make at the same time the 3 basic masks you get during the game. Let's see about that. Or maybe the fierce deity one?

Do you have any suggestion?

 See you in Rome!
